Greetings and Om Namah Shivaya. In our series on mudras, today we will discuss the Brahma Mudra. This mudra is extremely beneficial for our lungs and brain. Brahma Mudra’s primary purpose is to increase the flow of oxygen in our body, strengthening both the lungs and the brain.

Steps of Brahma mudra:

1) Keep your feet together and sit in Sukhasana.

2) Place palms on your thighs with fingers facing upwards.

3) Slowly bend your neck forwards, backward, and then sideways to the right and left direction. Sit upright after every motion. 

4) Now, rotate your neck in clockwise direction and anti-clockwise direction.

5) Place palms on thighs with fingers facing upward. Sit upright.

6) Join the tips of thumb and index finger together closing the remaining three fingers as shown in the figure. Look at the other’s palm turning head to right side keeping the neck straight.

7) After rotating your neck three to four times, shake your hand and sit upright.

8) Place palms on thighs with fingers facing upward. Sit upright.

9) Place the tips of thumb and index finger together closing the remaining three fingers as shown in the figure. Look at other’s palm, keeping head straight now right now twist it to left side, then to the front and then to the right side.

10) Rotate your neck in clockwise and anti-clockwise directions five times.

Practice this mudra for 15 to 20 minutes daily.
